It is primarily aimed at museum staff, or those interested in the effects of the pandemic on the museum sector of the target countries. The guidelines are compiled to serve as a tool to aid heritage practitioners and cultural institutions in responding to the double crisis – violent conflict and COVID-19 – that is affecting the daily operations of their museums. With evolving knowledge and updates concerning COVID-19, we are aware that these guidelines should also be an evolving tool.
Many recommendations and suggestions in this chapter are similar to those in the chapter on libraries and archives as they have many characteristics in common, in particular in the areas of safety, security and preservation.
